Barbara Bush, former first lady, dead is a death hoax. There is no truth to a premature news report that the wife of former President George H.W. Bush had died. While Barbara Bush is seriously ill, as of this writing, she has not passed away. Rather, a fake news site peddled an early death notice. Thoughts and prayers remain with the former first lady and her family during this difficult time.
Where did this death hoax originate? The website Breaking-cnn.com published the death hoax article on April 16, 2018 , falsely reporting that Barbara Bush, who is seriously ill and declining medical attention, died on Sunday evening. You can read the death hoax below.
NEW YORK — Former first lady Barbara Bush has died “peacefully in her sleep”, a spokesman for the Bush family said she died on Sunday evening.
92-year old Bush died hours after announcing that she will not seek additional medical care.
She made headlines in the past 24 hours that she was in failing health and would not seek additional medical care after a series of recent hospitalizations.
Bush was the wife of former President George H.W. Bush, the 41st president of the United States who is now 93, and mother of 43rd President George W. Bush. She was only the second first lady in American history whose her son also ascend to the nation’s highest office, the other being Abigail Adams, wife of John Adams and mother of John Quincy Adams.
However, there is no truth that Barbara Bush passed as of this writing. The above story was published by breaking-cnn.com which has no actually affiliation with the real CNN. Breaking-cnn.com has posted previous death hoaxes of Toni Braxton and Marilyn Manson.
As for the real CNN, they reported that Barbara Bush is being cared for at her home in Houston and has decided she does not want to go back into the hospital. She has been on oxygen for some time. An official statement confirmed after a “recent series of hospitalizations,” she has decided against seeking additional medical help and will instead focus on “comfort care.”
“It will not surprise those who know her that Barbara Bush has been a rock in the face of her failing health, worrying not for herself — thanks to her abiding faith — but for others. She is surrounded by a family she adores, and appreciates the many kind messages and especially the prayers she is receiving,” the statement from the Bush family continued.
If the hoax from breaking-cnn.com were not bad enough, CBS News erroneously published an online obituary on April 15, 2018, for Barbara Bush. The headline read “DO NOT PUBLISH – Former first lady Barbara Bush d*es at age 92 DO NOT PUBLISH.” It was briefly published on cbsnews.com, then taken down. The mistake showed how the media prepare obituaries for prominent people in advance.
The first lines of the story read, “Barbara Bush, the witty, gregarious matriarch of a political dynasty that propelled …read more
